Help! My logon is being rejected.

Post by DaveJ »

After seeing that the logins were again enabled, I've been trying to log on but the system keeps redisplaying the logon page with this text:

"Stardust Search
Log In
Incorrect name or password.
Please enter your username and password.

If you do not have an account, please follow the directions on the right to get a username and password.
"

Yesterday, I reviewed just over 100 images, so it was working fine then. I've even used the "Forgot Password" feature, and the system emailed a new password to me (so it seems to recognize me). Even the new password is not working however.

My logon ID is DJ257.

Test problems--"Old URL"

Post by CanonicalKoi »

I got through the first time with 9 out of 10 correct and the very next page gave me a message stating (paraphrasing, here): "You must have entered an old URL. The URL is only good for a single test. Click here to go back to the beginning of the test." Ho-kaaaaaaay..........

So, I click, start re-doing the test and about screen number 4, same message pops up. Look, guys, I'm sorry, I'm on dial-up. Is the silly thing timing out for some reason or what? Any work-around or are those of us on dial-up connections not allowed to search?

Frustratedly yours,

I'm having exactly the same problem, I'm also on a dial up connection.

I've done the test so many times, I'm an expert!! Everytime I try and register I get the same message :x :x

Any suggestions, stardust team - it's very frustrating.

Same problem, the exact error message is :
Stardust Search
Testing/Registration Error: Your testing/registration URL is incorrect.

This may mean that you pasted in a URL obtained in a previous test.
Each testing URL will only work for the duration of a single test.
Please return to the start of the test.
The frustrating thin is that each time my answers were correct !!

I have same problem.
I have quite fast DSL connection and were using Firefox and also tried Opera (which is probably not supported but it has the great funcion of smooth zoom which I find very useful in VM). Cookies on, refferers on...

see last post in this thread for a solution.
http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... .php?t=256

But your registration may not go through, I cant seem to get past the registartion part, and will have to do the test over.

IT WORKED!!! =))) I passed the test using mojudge's method: highlight the url in the address bar and hit enter, and then after filling registration data I didn't click 'Register' but just hit enter and it worked =)

Arrrrgggghhh!! My apologies for starting another thread when there already was one.

No joy here--25 attempts at highlighting the URL in the address bar and 25 more with just hitting the ever-popular "Reload" button. I forgot to mention that I'm using Firefox as a browser.

Any follow-ups should probably go into the original thread--"Can't get past the second movie in the test". It'll make life easier for anyone else with the same problem if they don't have to search through two threads.

"wrong URL"

Post by Miko »

...same hapend here, uncounteble times!!!
It's very frustrating!
But that's not all!
To registrate at forum i've to try 42 times!!!
Allways wrong code...
During the time i tried to contact the forumadmin like its written there.
...the Admin-Email-Link is wrong (It's marked as "no replay" and so unreachable!!!)

...is it possibile that You opened the project a bit to early?

WHAT HAPEND WITH THE Testing/Registration Error: Your testing/registration URL is incorrect. ???
JUST TRY AND TRY AND WAIT AND WAIT AND TRY AND TRY IF ITS PERHAPS WORKING SOMEWARE IN THE FUTUR????

Sorry, but all this stuff is really frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
regards Miko

...some time later:
Okay, it's easy!!!
I just refreshed the "Testing/Registration Error Page" sometimes and the test is going ahead...
If an answer was wrong, just go back and try again...
The same hapend at thr registration! If the errorpage comes just refresh and give Okay to send the datas again...
hope this helps someone!
Regards
Miko

i got the same weird "this seems to be an old url message" while doing the test. finally i could register.

now i'm getting something similar when using the vm, plus a really frustrating message "your answer won't count" .

i've clicked about 5 images (no track in them...) and got the same error "old url... you probably got here hitting the back buttom"...

this is really frustrating.

there's another error i got when logging in, and also when using the vm:

"Error from stardust:

You do not have access to this page. Please log in or go back to Home."

i think all these errors are related and caused by some kind of bizarre session problem.

I received the new password that was emailed to me, presumably after my account problem was corrected. I was able to login successfully.

Thank you!
