Hey, newbie duster here. I've just found about stardust@home after the Tempel Maneuver and it instantly grabbed my interest. Anyway, I have 3 movies to ask about:

First one (http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... d=841740V1) is not very promising. The "track" I noticed is near the upper right corner (roughly X: 475, Y: 75). The tiny "track" comes into focus later than the surface irregularities on the left, so I clicked it. It turns out there is only one more (out of 441) that identified the movie as having a track. My opinion is that either the surface is tilted so the feature comes into focus later or it's just because it's so tiny. Many small features on the left is visible on the highest focus while this one is not, though.

Second (http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... =2800944V1) and third movies (http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... =2800944V1) are better, but still have less agreements than I would imagine (15/448 and 46/419, respectively). In the second movie, please check the center (roughly X:300, Y:250). Again, it's tiny. Third one is more noticeable on the left (X:75, Y:200) with a more visible "tail".

Probably they are nothing, but as a newbie I wanted to have some feedback :)

Hi, erdemkazak. I agree with your assessment on the first two, both are probable inclusions, although I find the first one a bit more intriguing than the second. I'm afraid I could not discern the feature of interest in the third movie - at least not at the 75/200 coordinates you provided. Maybe one of our esteemed colleagues can provide you better feedback. Hi erdemkazak.

Re 841740V1:
Like you I suspect a slightly sloping surface, the target you mention being on the surface. As you rightly noticed, the other few small dense black blobs (clearly on the surface given their surrounding context, starting from the left at ~50/150 then through ~150/290 & ~325/225) all focus subtly lower than each other. And your target to the right at ~475/75 is only a little further lower, still above half way through all the focus levels.
It then quicky de-focuses, and there are never any associated /aligned features to suggest a particle impact such as one finds in the CMs (i.e. congealed aerogel blob & pale tail, or evidence of being a ‘carrot’ track as in phase 1, though these have never meant to be definitive exemplars of what to exclusively click on of course).

Re 2800944:
Though undoubtedly deeper in the aerogel, I agree with Mike that this is most likely an inclusion, for similar reasons to the above.

I think Mike’s (and my) inability to spot your 3rd possibility is because you have in fact posted a duplicate link to 2800944!
I look forward to viewing the correct link.

You obviously have a good eye and welcome degree of enthusiasm for the project despite the present lull, so welcome and happy dusting!

Hi caprarom and jsmaje, thank you both for your input.

As jsmaje noticed, I have posted the wrong link for the third one. 5198758V1 is (or at least should be) the correct one :P

Ah - That one is indeed a fine track, erdemkazak! It is already on the Alpha list with an average Red Team rating of 7.3. The Team at Berkeley has confirmed it with with a rating of "10" and called it a "2 o'clock track!!" So, you were right again - that is certainly the kind of feature to generate high interest, and only 11% of viewers flagged correctly. Good job.

I absolutely agree, and am shocked that only 11% of viewers have spotted it.
What are the other 89% looking for?

Well it seems that we are getting some new movies in the mix already, I was really surprised to find this one just now and even more surprised when I found out that I was the first one to view it. :)

What do you think about this one? At 90/100 the dot seems to remain constant in focus, in contrast to the other features that go blurred with the rate of the tilted surface here.

The URL of the images in this movie has the same unusual add on as your new finding, nitram819. Also I was the first one who viewed it.

You want to see some weird stuff? Take a look at this. At first I thought that this was a calibration movie where for some reason two track have been inserted (yes two!), but after clicking the one in the middle, I did not get any points or wrong answer for it. I looked at My Event and sure enough it appeared there, meaning that this is actually a real movie!?

Hi,
I've found this
http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... =1702549V1
isn't that quite obvious track starting at (220, 340) and going all the way to (200, 160)? the end of this track seems to be way below the surface.
Only one click from seven people that have seen this movie though...

What worries me is that this rather obvious and huge track was not detected by 6 people out of seven who actually scanned through it. I took a look at the tutorial and unfortunately didn't find anything that would look similar to above mentioned track. Maybe it would be nice to update the tutorial?- just a small suggestion from your colleague, a chemist:)
