I am wondering what would happen if it was a real movie with two tracks, how could you record them? I guess you would have to copy the movie and make a report to get the credit.

Hi jasonjason,

Is SmithES's (Evelyn's) post here of any help?

In this case, if you were the first to click along either track in the real movie, you'd get first find.

Well, I was "led astray" by one of those "faux tracks" discussed earlier. I said I'd post it, but it's hard to see being a 75-pointer. PM #8612056V1 has the official coordinates at 110/360, but the feature at 37/300 seemed more likely to me. Maybe a different magnification would have made it clearer.

The coordinates given for 8612056V1 are certainly not where I would have guessed the track could be found. I suppose that's why it's worth 75!

OK, Jason. For some real double trouble, check out 795391V1.

Looks like 3, I would go for the one on the left. Which one was it?

Could be either or neither, I don't know. I believe I clicked the one on the right, and later promoted the movie to the Alpha List so the rest of the Red Team and the Berkeley folks could have a look at it.

Berkeley Team rated it a fiducial. For more on those, see older posts here and here.

Jasonjason, further to the above responses about that repeatedly photoshopped ‘double track’, see also here (2011) and here (2012) for example. Opinions as to where to click - including the team’s official coordinates - have continued to range from one or the other, in between, or not at all!
DanZ said he’d raise the issue here (2011), yet it’s still with us, presumably because it was deemed a real feature.

To my mind though it looks like two isolated elements from one of those surface “bead/necklace” artefacts such as here.

And re Mike’s double vertical track, if not a cheeky double-pasting then perhaps two fiducial insertion attempts by whomever responsible on the team (they’ll know who they are!)

For an even dafter ‘double track’ see here where we were given a split PM movie with a tiny official track in one position in the initial frames, then another (equally tiny) one on the opposite side in the remaining frames!

Personally, I’ve not been dusting much lately, mostly because I’ve been waiting for the promised “Dozen papers” and a potential Phase 5.
And apologies to all that I still feature on the Home page as “Duster of the Month for February” now that we’re well through May; it’s really embarrassing. I never volunteered, but was invited by Dan with just a day’s deadline since he couldn’t find anyone else! Hence my rushed, and perhaps what some might consider infelicitous text! I don’t know if they’ve since stopped inviting DOMs altogether or it’s just due to the decline of active participants in the project in general.

No need to apologize, John, yours is an interesting and entertaining read. (I also was recruited rather than a volunteer.) I must confess an ignorance of Morris dancing, but then again, I'm ignorant of dancing in general along with many other things. As you're from the Manchester area, presumably home to the famous Manchester United Club, I expect you might be looking forward to the World Cup in Brazil next year. Best regards, and enjoy some well-earned downtime between phases.

Well Mike, this small selection of Youtube videos from Bampton, Oxford & Cotswolds, will surely convince you why Sir Thomas considered the centuries-old British tradition of Morris Dancing to be a bad idea!

And re Manchester United: sadly team/pitch games have always been a no-no for me, due to extreme short-sightedness since childhood, meaning I was never able to see let alone hit on-coming balls, with all the inevitable injuries and derision that ensued.
Actually I was born a Londoner, my inspirational History/PE teacher being an ex-player for 'Tottenham Hotspurs', for which team I’ve retained a degree of vague support.
Anyway, I now have a distaste for the global commercialisation of sport in general. ManU themselves have for some years of course been American-owned, hardly any of their players coming from the UK let alone Manchester itself! It’s no longer a local football club in any sense at all, simply an international business. So, sorry, the Brazil-fest will have to carry on without much of my interest.

Oh my, John! I see. Thanks for the education. Sad to say, that's one dance I could probably manage.

I'm also indeed sorry for the Yank's corruption of ManU, although I don't believe I'm particularly responsible for that. Go Hotspurs!
