Optional horizontal slider for interface: Whats the story?

Well after going through a few hundred of these things first time, Ive learned one thing and that's I blow with a virtual microscope.
Sensitivity is at 79%. Blech.
Anyways I was wondering, in the midst of sliding through these and listening to Buddha Bar audio with my headphones, were two things
(1) Does anyone change their mouse sensitivity to make the whole 'sliding' thing easier and
(2) Noting that this effort is not new, has anyone suggested creating an optional (read: user chooses) horizontal slider? Im no ergonomics pro or anything: It would be sort of cool to have that choice though, or at the very least to switch orientation to reduce repititive motions in just one axis with the 'mouse hand'. (Side idea: Joystick controllable focus with bluebar 'indicator' highlighted, noting your location on focal axis).
Sorry if this was mentioned. I didnt find anything about this so far.
