It seems it has!

Here's another weird one:

It's on the bottom 2 frames- two shiny little spots.

Hello, i'm new to this and i found a movie i don't know how to handle it.

I looks like there are many particles deeper in the gel but i guess no tracks

http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... =4236429V1

can someone confirm that it is some sort of contamination?

greets Holger

Good guess
Some of those things we call inclusions.

Moving to interesting

Post by vultur-10 »

I'm not sure what this one (http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... =3108952V1) is, but it looks interesting. There is a very faint trail of dots (it is entirely invisible when the VM is focused on the surface & the footprint-shaped blob is in focus) to the right and below the footprint-shaped blob, running almost directly up and down. It is only visible at all when the VM is focused well below the surface, and it's still really hard to see.

I see them too, and count five in a more-or-less straight line. But (a) the line isn't perfectly straight, and (b) the top and bottom ends appear deeper than the middle, which would imply a rather wonky particle trajectory were they in fact related. While this might well be possible, there is nothing to indicate an entry point (at least within the movie frame), nor evidence of any track-like link between any of the dots. I suggest a chance alignment of inclusions.

What the heck are these things?

My best guess is that they're bubbles that are reflecting the light source. But the way the camera seems to rotate around them is pretty strange.

That looks like the surface of the aerogel. On the surface we usually see the light source reflecting off of junk pieces of aerogel.

I found a weird object in 9914643VI today. I was a large black blotch, at least 2.5 centimeters long and 1/4th that wide. It formed almost a perfect lower-cap "d."

Interesting formation in movie 6741470V1. Runs from top to bottom on the right hand side, and has an approx. thickness of 10microns by 20 microns. More opaque in the center than the edges. Has a slight twist to it. possible human contaminant (hair?) or metal shaving maybe?

What do you think of this movie? I clicked on it because I had no idea what it was. Needle mark?

Hmm, that is interesting. Perhaps it is a needle track.

You've heard of the "Face on Mars," now we've got the alien face on aerogel!
