Regarding the "Update 24Aug06 - Analyzing Cometary Star
Have there been any results? - this is the announcement that the team was going to take a break and study them.

I am interested in the results of these experiments as well. But i'm afraid we will have to wait for a much longer time.marymouse wrote:Have there been any results? - this is the announcement that the team was going to take a break and study them.
Most of the scientific results are published months after the scientific experiments took place. You can observe this with all the NASA missions - just look at the dates of the press releases for stunning scientific results and compare them to the time when the scientific measurements or experiments were conducted.
The reason is very simple - in order to provide reliable scientific assertions and hypotheses you need to verify and question your measurements very thoroughly, do a lot of calculations, informally ask other scientists whether you could have done something wrong or drawn wrong conclusions. This takes LOTS of time. We just need to be patient with this. Maybe the results of these experiments will be published on the main web site of the StarDust mission instead of here in the S@H forum.
