What an interesting coincidence this turned out to be.

Years ago, as a member of the Planetary Society, I was automatically listed on something I never really thought would come back around to me.

Until I did a google on myself 5 minutes ago. Turns out, I've been with this program since 1997 :) (yes, OUR StarDust program!)

Anyways, apparently they encoded a bunch of names onto the Stardust satellite (see this for more details http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/overview/m ... p/faq.html) before they shot it into space.. and viola.. here I am 9 years later... doing the research as a volunteer, for the exact same Space Craft.

I wonder if this is how Darth Vader felt seeing C-3PO again... hmm.

Just kinda a neat coincidence :)
