focus often way too low

Post by madlink »

At least one of the calibration movies has a track at a very
deep focal plane that is not typically accessible in the movies.
Based on that, it seems to me that any movie that does not
have a sufficiently deep focus ought to be tagged as
"bad focus". I would appreciate any pointers as to how
shallow a focus ought to be permitted without hitting "bad
focus.

This is one of the ones I was moaning about too..

I feel that if you only get 2 or 3 frames below surface then it's bad focus.

BUT... there are calibrations movies that have only 2 or three frames below surface and they are considered as having no track...

EVEN if you hit bad focus.

I still think that if you hit bad focus then it counds for nothing and you move on. Not real movie count update, no calibration count updates.

For some guidance, please check this out.

In general, if you feel you can't really make a judgement of whether there might be a track or not because of a focus problem, hit "bad focus". That's what I do when I encounter an "non-biased" movie
