Not a track, but...

Post by Djingis Kan »

in my view definitely something below the surface.
In the lower left corner is a small dot, ehich is focused below the surface:
Movie 41533

Can anyone comment on this?

Strange. Looks like dust on the surface, but seems to be out of focus with it's surroundings....

Movie with a twist

Post by DaymobDotCom »

Hi all - I just begun and it is a lot of fun!

I understood from the news that they had fixed this; one of my first movies 20532B is from two different samples.

How should I report movies like this - bad focus?

Cheers

I wonder what this is?

To me it looks like a shiny piece of scrap metal. Though at this scale it wouldn't be so smooth. I wonder what it is.

I would say that that is a hole in the aerogel and you're seeing the mirror they place behind the aerogel to make our movies a bit brighter. Nice find! :D

Hmm, I disagree.

It looks like the surface of *whatever this is* is at the same level as the rest of the tile, so it can't be behind?

Though I have no idea what this is, but it seems indeed metalic.

Not a track but something different

Post by ghostmist6 »

Movie 34855B doesn't have a track, but something that looks like it impacted on the surface and skidded across it. Only way I can describe it. What do you think?

Actually, I bet that is simply a micrometeorite impact crater. :D

Very strange movie (possible contamination?)

Post by tacvek »

http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... e_id=24337 is a very strange movie. It has a very small focus range. It also has a very dirty looking surface. Somewhat below the surface is a large number of particles.

I'm guessing contamination. What does the stardust team think?

I have not marked that movie.

Annother stange movie.

I've marked http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... e_id=28846
not because it has a track, but because it appears to have some obstruction, possibly a human hair.
It could be obscuring a real track.

it's a calibration movie anyway, so nevermind.

Those particles are on the surface from what I see, not below it.
