I especially want those who understand the project science and engineering to comment on whether this article and the invention developed that is talked about in it would be helpful at all to this project on the extraction side: http://technology.newscientist.com/chan ... touch.html
Well, I'm a chemical, not mechanical, engineer. I reviewed the article briefly, and it indeed sounds interesting, but for application to picokeystone extractions at least one big question looms - what is the range of motion? I don't think that was addressed in the article. I think we'd need greater range of motion than is required to shuffle cells under a microscope, but presumably the apparatus/technology could be adapted.
