Problem with the calibration movies.

Post by Rhonda »

I see there has been a problem posted with some of the calibration movies today. I just had 3 positive track calibration movies counted as errors. I have had only 1 error of this kind in almost 14,200 calibration movies and now 3 in a row. The last one I looked at closer using the back button and cannot see how it could not be a track.

Error-error

Post by Groundling »

I have seen so many reports of errors but I haven't had any that I couldn't account for until now.
I don't bother to learn the expertise for recording movie numbers and such.
At this point, there is no point in continuing. I don't know how this could happen and at this point I don't care.

There is a major problem with many movies today!!!! The problem seems to be with the Specificity. All no track clicks are counted as an error. (13)

Hello,
I just started on the new setup today and I'm finding lots of out of focus and dark images,I just got my first (Answered Incorrectly) point,I back spaced the page and for the life of me I can not find anything below the surface and if it is a small pin head size calibration movie speck the page is to far out of focus to see it at the lower focus levels?
9110468V1

ADDED 8/13: I clicked on something that needs to be checked and the system added one more (answered incorrectly) point to my score,it's clear to me that there is something in the pic at the bottom middle about a 3/4" up from the bottom next to the dark surface spot right in the middle at about 4:00 from the dark surface spot about 1/4" away from it?
8232228V1

If I'm wrong please let me know what I'm missing!!!

Also I see in some of the new movies more of the smears or specks on the lens of the camera,Is there a way the lens can be cleaned?

I hope the focus and lighting can be worked on some to help us out!!!
I could care less about the scores as I'm on dailup so I can never hit the top scores I just like to help out if I can and maybe find something to name for my kids.
I had fun with the last stage of the search,Thanks for the fun times looking.

Bad CM

Post by fjgiie »

At 12:52 PDT today I clicked no track on CM 382146V1. This is the bad movie. It had 396, 235 at the end which was the coordinates for the previous movie 864634V1 which I had clicked. There is nothing there to click on, or there are five or six things there but none look like tracks. I looked at this movie for at least two minutes I think before choosing no track.

Thanks,

fjgiie

Hi Roy,

CM 9110468V1 has a track 282, 286. This CM appear fine to me. It's difficult to be sure, but is typical of some of the candidate tracks. It does not go all the way to the bottom. Some of the features we have seen that look very promising look as though they may not have penetrated as deeply into the aerogel as we would have expected.

CM 8232228V1 is a blank CM, so the system correctly marked you as having missed it by clicking on it. The spot you are indicating looks to not have any structure or go deeper into the surface than any other divit in the surrounding aerogel surface.

I know that the new CMs are more difficult than before, that is to get a more accurate scoring for people's sensitivity and specificity.

The new movies are reprocessed from the previous data and nothing can be done about the quality of the focus or illumination in them. These are ongoing challenges that we've faced throughout the scanning process. We have been getting better. So the later scans are likely easier to make determinations on than from data in the first scanned tiles.

I hope it continues to be fun. We certainly appreciate your work.

Thanks for the all the info Bryan,I'll keep a eye out for closer to the surface items I'm still in deep mode from the first go around.
I think I was taken in by the lens speck on the second one.

Well looks like we have to work with what we have after all we are all still learning as we go,It's good to hear the images may get better as we go.keep up the good work!

Happy dusting!

not-loading movies

Post by marcia »

I hope this is now the right thread to report the not-loading movies.

Today:
6370040V1
8139021V1
5622414V1

I also want to report that there are lots and lots of Bad Focus movies. The last 100 RM's I saw, 20% was BadFocus. I did get the impression that a lot of these are the left-upper part (of 50-micron)of the old movies.

BadFocus-movies

Post by marcia »

In my last post about BadFocusmovies I said I had the impression they were often in the left corner, but that must be the right-upper corner(with the two circular camera specks of dirt) of the (now 50micron) old movies.
Sorry.

Hi BIGAL,

I'm sorry, there isn't much we can investigate with only the movie number. Please read the first post in this thread: http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... p?t=1094#1

That is the best thread to use for scoring problems.

Thanks,
Bryan
