"I think I've found a track, what do you think?"

In order to keep this forum from become too large, please post only in this thread from now on if you have a possible track on which you would like to receive commentary.

Note: It is unlikely that any members of the Stardust@home Team will make any direct commentary on any given track. We are busily reviewing the database and investigating movies with the highest scores, as well as preparing and adding new movies into the database.

Thank you,
the Stardust@home Team

lets's start...

When I saw the first (top level) picture of this movie, I could point the possible track location, because it was so obvious to me. I even thought it is a calibration movie. To my surprise, it was a real one. It has 72 revievs, and only 47 marked someting on it. I thought it will be nearly 100%.

What do you think?

To me this looks like 3 channel-like structures with a dark grain of the usual dust on the bottem of the left channel.
That makes it "no track".

Would welcome comments on this movie.
Currently only 2 out of 74 have clicked on a track. Can't remember where I clicked myself, but there's one 200 microns from the left and 100 microns from the bottom, and another 300 microns from the left and 100 microns from the top. Look like obvious track "rings" to me, but then my eyesight is pretty appalling 8)

This is prety fain and just starts to be something, but I would flag it too. [I already did it with two other movie... :D ]
But... my soooo obious track have been critized just now, so I realy don't know what should we flag or not.

batdog - definately something coming into focus well below the surface, but no obvious track to it. Probably an inclusion in the gell, probably not what we're looking for, but who knows. Untill we know for definite what we're looking for, it (imo) is worth clicking on this.

Simple three pointed star with faint large track

First I was going to post this on the interesting topic but then I noticed a very large but faint track directly under the three pointed star pattern. It starts to resolve on the lowest focus bar. What do you guys think, is this anything?

Atus remember that no-one here is an expert on what a real track will look like, if you think you see a track you should mark it, if other people don't agree with you they won't mark it, eventually the Stardust team will take a look if enough people agree with you, so trust your judgement for the moment until there is more feedback from the stardust team.

All the best
Gavin

Hmm. I don't see anything, but I agree with Gavin. A number of people are looking at these images, with monitors of varying quality and with eyes of varying levels of expertise. If enough people agree, it will eventually get looked at.

I see what you think might be a track, but I don't think it is. It is not even staraight for my eye. Put a paper next to it...

I think I may have found my first "real" track ! 8)
that I'm at least 90% sure that it's the real deal !!!

36 agreements out of 47 viewers !

Otherwise I also have a lot of those with a little "dot" in,
but I think it's more wishful thinking that they would be "real"

IMO, the surface doesn't seem to come into focus; hard to say if that's something below the surface or not.

1) I would flag that too, but I'm not so sure, that it is a track. I read in this forum a lot about 'bubbles' and other anomalies in the aerogel, so who knows. Theoretically a real track is long, and will not 'vanish' after 1 or 2 slide deeper. The real scientist will answer this. :)

2) Same as #1 ... a bit larger, almost a circle with 'nothing' in it, so may be... but realy didn't know.

3) There is 4 'something' on it, but I fear that this is not what we searching. They disappear too quickly. [anyway, I wold mark one of them surely]

4) Would mark too, but the same alplies as above...

5) this one has also have abot 3 'something'... :)

6) two posibble tracks in the upper left
Yes, two 'something' in the upper left at the very end of the movie.

7) another double in the lower middle
See that too...

My marked movies has the same characteristic as yours, except one. This one looked to me a testing movie, but turnet out to be a real one. Anyvay, it may have nothing, but shows a definite similarity to me as some calibration movies.

Hi Atus.

Thanks for your judgement...I have similar opinion...there´s something in it but we´re not sure...hope the scientists will have cleaner conclucion by seeing these movies in high resolution and quality...at least movies have some agreements so won´t be lost.

Ad to your movie: I would have flagged it too but there´s a problem with focusing on surface (flexed). Left half of the image is obviously in higher position than the right one and when you focus on surface on the right half you´ll see that this possible track is on the surface level. Hard to say because we´re out of focus now and dont know what is below.
