My review and questions about the above Power Movies for which I was given a miss.

Movie 174 - Which dark spot to select. What are the parameters for deciding which is which. The only requirement I remember seeing was to select the lowest point even if it is out of focus. Why is it so important? All I am is an observer trying to contribute. If I can get close to an obvious track you should be able to easily find it.

Movie 375 - I cannot find anything which even comes close to a track.

Movie 40 - Are you saying that this rectangle shaped bright spot is a track? I do not remember reading that this was a target of interest. If so which bright spots are valid and which are not?

Movie 342 - Again another movie where I cannot find a single track.

Movie 132 - This one has what I believe could be an inclusion which you stated was not to be selected. It for sure has no track and does not represent anything that I can remember reading which is a target of interest.

Why is the scoring system set up the way it is? You are comparing my Power Score (my award for successful sightings) to all the movies I view. That means that for every movie which is not a Power Movie my skill score goes down and continues to decrease until I get another Power Movie and successfully identify a track. I may be wrong but I think that comparing my total number of Power Movies Viewed with the Power Movies Missed gives a better representation of my skill. That is in fact what you are doing to this result being displayed in My Events page.

I offer these ideas with the intent to suggest, question and hopefully improve my performance.

I am sorry but these last two are too much. I cannot even come close to finding anything which resembles a track in these movies.

Hi gebils,
Only one of these CMs are invisible and 174 may be mislocated or hard to click correctly. 174 has to be clicked behind the deepest round end to score correctly. (hope they fix this one)
The key is your movie you call #40. Yes, that white thingie. It is the same as Tutorial #13.
Your two movies in your second post are like Tutorial #13 but very small.

Your movie # 132 is wiggling at bottom focus and is a High angle track but is higher than located by the red rectangles.
Your movie #342 is the invisible one. It is right where located by the red rectangles but tiny.
Your movie #375 is sitting on the bottom red rectangle.

What I see in real life does not come close to Tutorial 13. All I get is a rectangular shaped bright object which is nothing line tut 13.

My complaint is that these teeny tiny sightings have absolutely no tracks associated with them. Are we now to be looking for trackless targets and if so what are the guidelines?

Tutorial 13 shows a dark mass adjusting as one might expect of a track. What I see in my complaints is nothing like tutorial 13. What is in my view is a rectangular shaped reflecting mass that looks like a bright light and having no indication of a track. All of the others may wiggle or be tiny but none of them show any indication of a track. If you want us to report wiggles or teenies then you need to publish that.

This one I missed not because I missed the track but because I was unable to locate it at the predetermined point unknown to the me.

Here is one of those invisible tracks, rated 71. Seven million points to anyone who can actually see it!

http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... 0&theY=222

I clicked on the spot on the left, same horizontal location (about 200/105). My Events list is being quickly populated by my clicking on every little dot I see. So how come the one I DON'T see is always the one that's in a power movie? Grrrrrrrrr.

I ponder why we should be looking for invisible tracks??

Just got a 73 point movie - 7747167V1 - 73 point movie I got. One tiny little speck - no track no nothin - one of the impossibles. I have a method:
1. If it wiggles I click on it.
2. If it is a teeny weeny all on its own I click on it.
3. If it is a bit large and hairy looking I assume it is a Wookie and I do not click.

No charge for this info - LOL

There is one particular target I forgot to mention. It resembles the sight you get when you raise a horse's tail. Very easy to find. George you are awful - LOL

It's frustrating I know, but I definitely see this one at 388/215*. However, not the 400/222 that is tagged as correct, so I will report this one.

Gebils, perhaps you're getting the hang of it?! Anyway, I found Phase 4 frustrating at first too because it incorporated tracks from Phase 1 & 2, which I did not participate in. But now I've got a handle on those and am scoring well (well enough for my ego at least). However, some things should be noted:

1. The tutorial fjgiie should have pointed you to is #14, not 13. Check out number 14 here. Otherwise I agree completely with his conclusions and analysis of tracks found in the movies being questioned. (thanks fjgiie!!)

2. Yes, many of the Power Movies that display High Angle Tracks (HAT) and their kin were not tagged correctly and so most of you are missing those, even the easiest among them. We are trying to correct that problem now.

3. Although not a HAT, movie 6183375V1 (reported by gebils) does seemed to be tagged incorrectly on it's X/Y coordinates (I'd put it more at 482/273 vs. the current marked 495/276).

4. (this one's for "tudorbug" too) As far as why we have some nearly/practically invisible tracks is because "We want to measure the detection efficiency curve all the way down to zero" (per the science team). It's necessary for the research aspects of the project. Bottom line, you WILL miss those just about all the time, we all will.

5. Skill Score WAS Power Score divided by All Movies Viewed initially, but (as pointed out by gebils), that was a mistake and it should have been corrected to Power Score divided by All Power Movies. If you're still finding otherwise, please report that to me.

So, little wigglies and their kin will continue to be something to look for. However, for any Power Movie (especially the easy HATs) that you think have been tagged incorrectly for their X/Y coordinates, please continue to report those.

Thank you!
