To further the last point, even the 'real' people don't have any idea what to expect and missed/dismissed what may be some important tracks. They thought that they had an idea of where a stream of dust was and designed the experiment to capture that dust. Based on the geometry parameters and some measured speeds/energies and given the collector orientation, they thought that tracks would end up with specific geometries. If you review the last 'what's happening' message, you see that even the staff has been (pleasantly) surprised. In Phase 1 someone made a comment about looking for something in focus in an out of focus movie. Now we seem to basically be searching for something that may be out of focus most/all of the range but below the surface and present in more frames than an inclusion. That presents a challenging algorithm to bear in mind for searching.
