In focus and blur then sharp and blur again

Post by przywara »

I would like to have your comment mates on the following movies:
Movie 8813559V1, Movie 5568967V1, Movie 2123266V1
If you focus the VM the area is blur, then you focus down and gets sharp and then again blur. Low speed particle or just dust below the gel surface??

8813559V1, Nothing there
5568967V1, Nothing there
2123266V1, Nothing there

These movies are typical for movies with a flat surface with a little dust on it. Nothing sticks out above it, nothing is in the gel.
So nothing in focus above surface,
Surface in focus for only a view steps
Nothing in focus below surface (only the aerogel itself but that's an evenly spread grey ;) )
Just dusting... Image

Hi Stanley,
Here is your first listed movie:http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... =8813559V1

Same as Wolter said...
I took a look at all three and at bottom of focus I did not see anything. :?:

We have a good place for these movies to be listed. Here I think:
http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... .php?t=647

There are also many movies there for you to review.

Thanks,

So far as I'm concerned that's perfectly normal: the focus range goes from above the surface, to the surface, to below the surface. So the junk on the surface is only in focus at one point. That's as it should be.
If you're going to be just like everyone else, what's the point in existing?
