After November 3th update I have 95 ˝ Passed cut 1˝.

Do we need another poll for this reason?

I've now got (after 3 Nov update) 60 "possible IS particles", and to be honest, I have no confidence in any of them! Apart from 3 lateral-angled ones, the rest all look like 'inclusions' to me, or what we'd been led to think must be inclusions (though I clicked them)- i.e. simple subsurface dots with no cavity or give-away track leading from the surface.

In fact, since only a couple or so very doubtful 'classic' tracks have turned up after a quarter of the collector has now been scanned, it suggests to me that they may have now lowered their threshold for 'possibility'. I can only presume that they now think IS tracks/particles might indeed be much smaller than had been expected, and could possibly be confused with inclusions. Either that, or they're getting a bit nervous(?), and thinking they may have significantly over-estimated the particle frequency, but that they'd better keep giving us encouragement to continue looking anyway??

The point regarding this poll is not only will such updates continue, but more relevantly that participants have and will continue to be starting at all sorts of stages during the project, have different rates of working, etc. and so done a lot more or less than the average, and that a simple "How many do you have?" question is therefore of little consequence.

So, to make it fairer and cancel out the irrelevant variables, wouldn't it be better if people could just present their percentage 'passes' vs. 'total real movies viewed'? (you have to count them up on your Events lists then go to the VM to find the number of real movies viewed).
In that respect I am currently 60 possible interstellars vs. 26246 real movies - just a tad over 0.2%!

I leave it to someone else to devise such a poll and work out how well I'm doing/not doing!

ROTFLMAO, Nikita! I've missed many more days than xxxxxy has, but those were mostly preceded by days I spent here doing a "24 hour duty." Ha. I need to get off of dial up and into the express lane! It ain't easy being me.

what is the score? do polls apply?

Post by bulamark »

I think I'm the real slacker here. can't do much more than an hour before eyes start to buzz. And with other job and projects going don't get to search as much as I'd like. As for the poll only have 36 events : 6 pass 1 poss. IDP,
6 inclusions, 24 indeterminate. Thats out of a total of 5132 films of which 1347 are calibration films. that puts me at a little less than 1% events and less than .02% pass cut 1. My current rating are spec. 99.38% and sens. of
98.85%. I'm curious as to the high scorer xxxxxy(congrats on being in the top 100) what your spec sens is. I also would like to know the spec sens of the computer searchers andhow many pass cut 1, inclusions, and indeterminate. against quantity of films.

Keep searching, I've heard there's stars in the glass.

I have:

Specificity: 99.79%
Sensitivity: 99.48%

Most mistakes I made first few hours of serch.

I click on average every 30th movie, and on average every 300th (that I view) is ˝Passes cut 1˝.

thanks for the reply xxxxy. I found the stats posting page today so I probably wouldn't have asked for your numbers as you had already posted.
I'd still like to see the numbers on those running a computer search program though. perhaps there written in the stars.

Keep up the great work.

still searching for stars in the glass.

Update: Passed Cut 1.

Post by fjgiie »

Total event lines 270, Total movies 238
15 doubles, 7 triples, 1 quadruple

No duplicates in these:
50 Passed cut 1
40 possible interstellar dust particles (about five more to find) :D

Which program do you use for countaing of events?

Update: 121 ˝Passed cut 1˝, 94 ˝Possible interstellar dust particle˝
