After one month it changed very slightly:

7377 CM and 19027. So 38,78%.

Percent of movies served

Post by fjgiie »

xxxxxy, hope this is on-topic for this thread :)

Here is my best estimate for movies served, with a guess of bad focus movies.
These are my figures as of 17 October 2006
  • +57506 real movies
    +22225 calibration movies
    +20269 bad focus (my guess)
    100000 movies served
Real 58%
Cals 22%
Bad focus 20%

That seems funny to me. Why you get that little CMs? Or have you failed circa 2700 CMs so far?

I thought everybody has to struggle with minimum 1:3!?
The ratio may be (a bit) depend on the number of seen movies, but it should be the other way around :) (the more seen movies the less CMs)

OOPS I did a boo boo. I was looking at the wrong number (brain fry) and used the total users number LMAO. So sorry. Here's the stats again. (I feel very stupid.

Calibration Movies Answered Correctly 2836
Calibration Movies Answered Incorrectly 32
Your Overall Score: 2804
Total Real Movies Viewed: 7228
Your Rank: 313 out of 16381
Specificity: 98.79%
Sensitivity: 98.97%

so (2836 + 32) / 7228 = 0.39679026009961261759822910902048

or more commonly called 39.68%

Again I am very very sorry for that. I didn't mean to mis lead. just a brain fizz

Looks more like 1:4 or even closer to 1:3.7

I've been keeping a spreadsheet log over my last 4,530 movies viewed since August 28, 2006 and that breaks down to:

Total of all movies = 4,534
Total real counted = 2,898
Total real viewed = 3,407
Total bad focus = 509
Total calibration correct = 1,123
Total calibration missed = 4
Total calibration score = 1,119
Total calibrations = 1,127

So my percent for calibrations to total of all movies is 1,127/4534 or 24.9% (1 in 4). The ratio of calibrations to real is 1,127/3,407 or .33, (1:3). Ratio of score to real counted is 1119/2898 = .386.

Percent of bad focus to total real is 509/3407 or 14.9% and to total of all movies is 509/4,534 or 11.2%.

fjgiie, how accurate do you think you're estimate of bad focus movies is? If you estimated 9,200 instead of 20,269, your calculations would come out very close to mine!

The VM Help, "Questions about Scoring" at http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/h_vmhelp.php, says that the real movies are appoximately 80% of the focus movies we view. That would infer that 20% (1 in 5) (ratio 1:4) of the total viewed are calibrations. Maybe they changed their minds after that was written?

- Guess on percentage of bad focus movies -

GelDelve wrote:fjgiie, how accurate do you think you're estimate of bad focus movies is?
It was just a guess.

From Apologies... one volunteer dismissed 50% as bad focus.
Another member told me he rejected one half. I consider 50%bad focus to be more than the high side.
I guessed the range of rejected bad focus movies was between 15 and 25%. I used 20% which I thought was about right.

Besides, I needed a number to make the total 100,000 so 20,269 was what I used. :)

EDIT: Corrected Figures:
  • +57506 real movies counted
+11501 bad focus (new guess) 20% of real movies counted
    =69007 non calibration movies, 11501/ 69007 = .167
bad focus is 17% of all non cals
  • +22225 calibration movies
    =91232 total movies served 22225/91232 = .2436
Calibration movies are 24% of all served movies

Last EDIT I counted everything for 100 points or 100 Calibration movies.
  • +286 real movies counted
    + 48 bad focus
    =334 non cals served
Bad focus was 14.4% of non calibration movies.
  • +100 calibration movies
    =434 served
Calibration movies were 23% of served movies.
Bad focus was 11% of served movies.

(still a guess because this is a very small sample)
