A few questions on the collector/satellite.

Post by bulamark »

I'm new to the project and have 99/97 %. Yet on occasion see anomalies in the Aerogel which I believe are a result of manufacturing. However I'm
not sure. My questions about the collector:
1. are there any before launch movies of the aerogel?
2. how thick is aerogel collector?
3. one of the threads said collector was double sided, if so, is the high degree of surface debris in some movies caused by impactdust from other side?
4. on some of the movies I'm noticing a skip/ripple stright impact like track on>surface that doesn't have scorch marks or debris for lack of better terms, is this a feature of manufacturing/handling of aerogel? Or perhaps damage during flight? Should I note or report these sites on movies? I have been ignoring attributingto manufacturing.
5. What is expected impact speed range for dust particles?
6. Is there a site I can visit with info on the collector vehicle?

That certainly helped. I regret to say I "no track"ed a large surface impact object in one of first 150 slides. Didn't realize that a surface particle surronded in cracked/shattered glass field was significant. It sort of looked like a rock lodged in a window pane BB hole, less round more crystalline structure. Know for next time. C'est la Vie.
