explain the dark & grainy 100 cms?

Post by ERSTRS »

I frequently receive 100 cms that are very dark and contrasty. The background is heavily grained and the rest of the sample looks like a piece of crumpled up aluminum foil! I've tried to search for particles in them, but my eyes blur out and I have to click on "Bad Focus." Has anyone actually found a Track in one of them? If so, could you send one of the cms to this forum so I can get a clue as to what I am supposed to be looking for? I'm having no problems with any of the other 100 cms. Just those grainy, contrasty ones. THANKS, ERSTRS

Hi Evelyn,

I noticed the same thing, and although I'm not sure, I think it's because many new scans have started at the edge of the tiles. If so, you should start seeing fewer of these as more of the new scans enter the VM. If, however, you're still encountering a very large quantity of these types of slides a month from now, please let me know.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Evelyn,
No , in those 100 Micron one's the one's you are talking about there are no tracks in those just the clearer 100 Micron frames. At least in phase 3. Maybe in Phase 4 and beyond :D things might be different.
