More useful focus travel

Post by yaswat »

I find that surface dust in most movies come into focus below halfway. Since most of the focus travel above the surface is wasted, it would be better to have surface focus near the top. That would give lots of focus travel for tracks below surface.

Of course this wouldn't work where the surfaces have steep gradients.

That would be ideal, and the team has done their best to get the surface at the middle to upper top. There has to be some space before the surface comes into view, so we can spot it for reference.
As you know, not all of them came into focus that way. For the ones that don't, just click "bad focus" and it will be rescanned as needed.

See here for more info:
When should I use the "bad focus" button

Thanks and good luck dusting!
