Actually, if you look, you'll notice an update from September 6th.

Does the Sept 6 update mean they have stopped all scanning until they removed the two tracks?

And the August 28 update showed 5 tile that had been scanned and were being processed. What happened to those?

So the net of this, is when are there going to be "new" movies?

The forum has a thread showing everything that has been scanned and the process of the tiles leading up to them being put out for us to view. BTW, those "two" you mention are examples. They didn't mean "we only found these 2 things".

I guess the scanning process is going on only without updating the schematic.

However, since I'm struck that we long ago have seen sufficiently all ~80'000 movies showed currently in Picture perfect: aerogel scanning progress, it would be really welcome to be "everytime" in the know where we actually stand in the process - Also whether seen movies will taken out or not and if so which quantity of them remain!

Maybe there's a possibility to create an extra movie pool where all ~700'000 movies remain finally, which is clickable in the VM as "Searching In All Existing Movies" - to those who be thinking about to search in each movie several times...

Still no updates????

Post by BIGAL »

Still no Updates since Aug 28,2006?
Sure would be nice if somebody could say SOMETHING about whats going on?

Personally I think their are no new movies and whats worse there are really not that many people looking. I know there are a lot of people signed up, but how many search everyday? I search about an hour a day and my ranking has gone from 1200 to 413 in the last 2 weeks.

I give my thanks to Bryan for the info that he posts.
Without those emails that he sends out to the troops.

I would go back to climbing a few mountains!!

Thanks again Byran

You could be right that actually searching is no longer that popular, even so in the top hundred you must be still busy in order to keep your place.
I give my thanks to Bryan for the info that he posts.
Yeah... and I guess that is not only his job... among other things.
They give us here a great change and room to participate..., only I would gladly know what goes on and where I'm working at currently!
I would go back to climbing a few mountains!!
Eh? What's your problem!?

To answer, greuti's question of "Eh? What's your problem!?"

My problem is and this is about the 3rd or 4th time I have said it, is, Its NOT HARD to give a little update on what's going on. To NOT know leaves it to ones imagination.

Things I would like answers to are:

1. Are the Tiles being scanned now?

2. Have any been scanned since Aug 28, 2006?

3. Have any new movies been put on line since Aug 28,2006

4. Any idea when we are going to see new movies?

This is not hard to do if your in the know.

Does this all mean Iam ungrateful of course not!!! But after all the movies
have been looked at 200 times, my time could be better spent elsewhere.
If you want to up your score quickly now is the time to do it. Especially since their arent many searching. Just keep churning through the same old movies over and over. I want to search
when the project is ACTIVE and their is at least a remote chance of discovery.
I know that this message is not coming out the way I intend it and is probably going to get torn apart.

I would just like to get a little info on what's going on?????

Thanks

I think the latest update goes a long way to explaining the status of the scanning updates

Again thanks for the update, Bryan.
Which makes me wonder if he is the only person keeping the lights on?

Yes this probably explains why we haven't been getting scanning updates,
but doesn't explain why we didn't know that.

I still wonder if there is any scanning being done?

Iam happy for and congratulate the Butterworth's

It seems she had already a proper stake in the search :D

BIGAL,

Scanning is occuring normally. The team at Johnson Space Center is doing that 4 days per week.

Dr. Butterworth trained some students here at Berkeley to fill in for her while she is away in processing and uploading the focus movies made from the scans. We'll be providing some updates on their progress probably later today.

One thing they have not gotten around to is updating the scanning progress image in the Picture Perfect post. Hopefully, that will be updated more regularly very soon.

Thanks as always for your patience and most especially your participation,
