I found this in the "Announcements," "FAQs about launching the Stardust@home search" topic by Dr Butterworth:
We need to have the first few tiles completed before launching the VM, to avoid having to suspend the VM later due to lack of data.
They have two tiles ready and are processing two more at UC Berkeley. I guess the new question is: how many is "few?"

Dr. Butterworth has posted in the "Updates" topic that they are aiming to have 12 cells ready before launching the VM.

From her diagram there are 8 cells scanned so far in Houston. 2 of those are ready and 2 are being processed at UC Berkeley.
