I'm in agreement that 22534B may not a calibration movie (although 10494A I suspect IS, and a positive)- Every one I have seen has been within a certain number series. I've also brought that point up with the StarDust team, so they are aware of it. I wouldn't worry too much, they've done a bang-up job with this project so far- but bugs are bugs and there have actually been surprisingly few- just keep track so the information can get where it needs to go when it's called for.
Sadly, you are correct Orion; there will be burn outs and bad habits, but there are plenty of volunteers that are dedicated to seeing it through and many that still haven't even heard of the project (when traditional school starts in the fall, many will get involved). I suspect there are safeguards in place to address bad habits... and I don't fear a total lack of interest at any point during the VM phase (projected to be about 6 months).
I think everybody is doing fine and doing their best- and a great job so far. Let's give some time to let the very busy 5-member team read, investigate, evaluate and address the hundreds(?) of daily posts. The input from the forum is the major source they have to draw from, so I suspect all important issues will be tackled once they can be identified.
I'm sick of writing long-winded posts... you guys have to be sick of reading them!

No dessert for you- ONE MONTH!
Then why has my count of incorrectly answered calibration movies raised after marking it "no track"? Or have I gotten something wrong, and the calibration movies don't reappear when I use my browser's back button?I'm in agreement that 22534B may not a calibration movie
To the S@H team: Keep up the great work, cheerio! S@H is gonna ruin my life, i'm addicted .
I wanted to pop in this thread to first say "I agree!" It's extremely frustrating not being able to see where the track is that I missed.
But also, it seems like I have been "double scored" where clicking on a track will get me a +1 correct and +1 incorrect.
I have 10 recorded wrong so far, and I believe at least half of those are from double scores. I suppose this is not as important as the above point since it only affects my percentage and rank, not the science.
It's just...discouraging to see that percentage drop.
anyone else have this problem?

I´ve not seen as many calibration movies as orion has, but after a total of 1511 counted "total movies viewed", i´ve seen at least some. With only 4 errors out of 407 calibration movies, I can see no technical problem with calibration. I knew two of those errors right after clicking even without looking at my error score.
You need to take time to carefully view all movies. And you need a calm hand to click right on the track if you find one. This is hard specially with the very small tracks on some of the calibration movies.

Thanks Sebastian. I thought maybe it was something I was doing so I was especially careful with the last few calibration movies. I got a few marked correct, so I thought it worked.
Then I came to 10625B. There is a small track very clearly visible near the middle of the picture. I have a laptop with a track pad, so I used it to place the cursor so that it was clearly pointing at the track.
I then removed my fingers from the pad and carefully clicked on the button separate from the trackpad, so that there was no way I could accidentally move the cursor while clicking.
I am using Firefox 1.5.0.6 on a 12" Mac Powerbook, if that makes a difference to anyone. Any other suggestions? I am not using tabs either.

10409B
I swear that's a track in the very top, left-middlish. Its the first calibration film iIve marked as having a track that didn't (out of 228 calibration films) and I'm baffled. Would anyone else have marked this as a track?

There's no doubt that that's a track.star~shaped wrote:10409B

Re: learning from mistakes
On the one calibration movie I have missed (my overall score is in the 50s), I used the browser's back button to go back and see what I missed. Turns out I missed a very small track, probably because I was too tired. Now, since I used the back button, I got the "You've gotten to the page an unusual way" message, but I just used the forward button to continue.drbuzz wrote:would it be possible to permit one to go back manually to the movie?
I learned a valuable lesson: don't try to find tracks when you are tired!

I've missed this same slide twice no wait make that 3 times. I'm so lame that I selected no track even though I've missed it before. The arrow points to a dark area that just starts to show up at the lower end of the focus. It never displays anything close to a round or circular track.

This is not a track, IMHO. Note that the surface of the aerogel is not reached: the focal plane is always above the surface. Consequently I would mark this movie as "bad focus". There is no way to find a track since you never get to see inside the aerogelmantis! wrote:Then I came to 10625B. There is a small track very clearly visible near the middle of the picture.
