Focus issue frequency

Post by rgeorge256 »

I seem to come across many (but I've yet to count them) focus issues. The extreme top or bottom of the focus slide seems to be the "base line." As in training, I am choosing "bad focus" but there is no tracking or statistic that i see. I guess im just a little concerned that it may be happening too often...
Anyone else with this issue?

I'm a bit concerned about this too. In many of the "Calibration Movies", the trace can't be seen until deep into the focus - I think those doing the scanning might be advised to put a larger depth-of-field variable into the scanning. Granted I understand you're dealing with a horrendous amount of data, but which would be better - doubling the size of the focus movies, or doubling (or tripling!) the number of times you have to take those precious aerogel capsules and move them about? Out-of-focus movies will need to be reshot. It seems that boucing the scale of the movies would be the better solution.
