How do we know the particles that get picked up are from outside the solar system instead of within the solar system? If the sun can push such small particles out of the solar system, then how did these interstellar particles penetrate so deeply into the solar system? If it takes a while for the sun to push stuff out, then how do we know the dust doesn't come from recent collisions in the asteroid belt, or elsewhere in the solar system?
