The first and third look promising. The second I would have marked as "bad focus" since the surface only becomes clear right at the bottom setting.barrett777 wrote:Hi Everyone,
I found a few interesting things last night, and I'm too excited to just sit and wait for someone to review it
Please tell me what you think about these:

This is the best one statistically, 8 agreements out of 15 views. It's faint, towards the middle, comes into focus around the lowest image.

If I didn't know better, I'd say it's a giant fiery meteorite!
But really, what is it?
http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... e_id=41844
I think I see a small track coming into focus towards the top-middle of the image.
Also, post any interesting things you've found as well?
Thanks,
barrett777

If you're going to be just like everyone else, what's the point in existing?

Both have really obvious tracks, but only like 9 agreements out of about 30 views >_<
I actually see 3 tracks on the first one, and like 4 on the second O_O;

I personaly think the movie http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... e_id=42006
could show about 8/9 tracks as some people sugested. The movie obviously shows some objects deep in the aerogel, of about 5 microns in diameter that are more likely to be particle tracks than contamination. Regarding their size, there is no lower limit for the size of possible particles that I know of. Either way, an official response is needed clarify this issue.
Orion_0169,
Regarding the frequency of these tracks, I have come across only 2-3 movies with small tracks out of 260 I've done so far, so I don't think it's such big concern as you point out. In the current movie, 8 of the tracks do appear in multiple focus layers, as circles first(true, very faint)...
I marked the areas where I saw circles and then particles probbably, only to find out afterwards that you can't upload images here... yhey.. I could email them ...
Anyway, there is another aspect here that shows that these tracks are something different than usual tracks. The circles shrink faster than in usual tracks, pointing towards a smaler particle/smaller velocity maybe resulting in a shorter track. A moderator really should clarify this.
Cheers!

Well I thought this one might cause some debate (isn't that what science is all about).
I'm still not sure what I think about this movie, there are certainly spots coming into focus, whether they're tracks, impurities, or something entirely else I'll leave that up to the team to decide. There are some extremely small tracks in calibration movies though.
Until then I'll continue reporting movies like this one, as it is better to be on the safe side.

is this a track?
http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... e_id=44405
approx 150microns from the right hand side and 100 microns from the bottom.
it's very very small, but there's something there...

Re: track
Hard to tell, it's really small! But it does get more focused the further down you go, unless every other thing in the movieT.Adam wrote:

Same here. I think you have found tracks in these movies, but I'm not sure.T.Adam wrote: and 44012?

Holy crap! 3-in-1!!
http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ ... e_id=44742
three possible tracks in one movie! one is right next to the center-most large chunk, while the other two are side-by-side at the bottom of the image, to the left of center.
Whoever flagged this one before me is a lucky SOB if they turn out to be authentic tracks.
