Tracks without particles

Is there a likelihood of finding a track, but being unable to find a particle at the end later, as perhaps it is too small, "lost" (not at it's expected location at the end of the track), volatile and vaporized, or reactive?

They pretty much covered most aspects. I'm sure there's others.

From our point of view, we will only find tracks (if any ;) )
The movies presented in the VM will only cover the toplayers of the aerogel, from just above the surface to just below the surface. this wil contain the most visible part of the track, the bubble at the top.

Once the postion of a track is located by the VM team members the scientists at NASA will check it with their RL equipment, pinpoint any particle present and try to retrieve it.

Untill that time, no one here will likely see an actual stardust particle.
