Hi All, Thanks a lot John for your measurements of the activity level here at Stardust@home. It is very interesting. We recently analyzed some of the participant data from Phase 1 and found that 52% of all the searches performed during that period were done by only 1% of all the dusters. So there is...

Re: Age of universe

I read in Space.com news a few months ago the universe is now thought to be 15.8 billion years old, not 13.7 but I haven't heard or read 15.8 billion years being used anywhere since that item. Of course I can't even begin to comprehend either number but am curious about the age of the universe. Hi ...

Hi Chuck, I'm sorry for your frustration. But that is the nature of science, when dealing with the unknown there will be plenty of things that do not conform to our expectations. In examining several of the candidate tracks you should note that some of them do not appear as deep as we would expect. ...

Bryan, are there any good or bad news about getting and posting the movies of the extraction process? Well the bad news is that I have been away from the office for a few weeks for family reasons, and have been rather out of touch. The good news is that I am back and will get to work next week on g...

The Planetary Society has made some T-shirts for us, but I don't think they have them for sale yet. But they will be soon.

Hi All, This movie is another case of a CM that maybe could have been placed in a better spot, but is otherwise harmless. The calibration features are inserted digitally and automatically and there are several thousand of them. There have been a few where the coordinates were off, and a few more whe...

Hi John, There should be a movie of the extraction process which should unequivocally demonstrate that the two features are one and the same. I'll see about getting that and some of the other movies of extractions posted. They are really something. The extraction process is completely brilliant. As ...

Yes, the feature on the left is the possible track. This link should actually mark the correct coordinates of the candidate: http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/candidateviewer.php?movie_id=38843&type=real&VM_code=&frame=1&coords=?470,196&firstclicker=magickestrel&TheName=...

Hi All, We can't say for sure when we are going to be able to start up scanning again. We've been able to make several accomodations so that the Berkeley team can control the scanning with a minimum of time requirements on the fine folks at Johnson Space Center. We hope that we can begin new scannin...

Re: Bad CM or something

7 April 2008 At 11:20 am PST I clicked a cm at 156, 100 on CM 2516607V1 and received a miss. My score went down one and misses went up one. The next movie up had this url: http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ss_virtual_microscope.php?next_movie=2516607V1&ondeck_movie=2610138V1&no_record=...

Thanks, there does seem to be something wrong there. If you encounter a movie like it again, simply mark it as Bd Focus. That alerts us that the movie is no good.

Thanks again,

Hi Bryan, Strangely I didn't receive any invitation, I could have missed it. Was there email sent out to every red team member? I wonder is it too late to join the Red Team now? Tks It's possible that the message was caught by a spam filter (the same thing happened to rlcwik). I'll let the team kno...
