Stardust in DISCOVER Oct. 2015
Hey, Dusters, we made headlines again in Discover mag. Page 18, October 2015. "Capturing the First Interstellar Travelers. The Stardust mission has returned bits of old, dead stars to Earth Probably." The first paragraph: "Our solar system began as a swirling cloud of dust and gas, th...

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
Hey, guys, there seems to me to be an obvious track in this movie. http://aerogel.ssl.berkeley.edu/powermissedviewer.php?movie_vm=7428370V1&theX=67&theY=281. Yet I clicked on it and got it wrong. I can't see a track in indicated spot. "Add files" feature is inoperable at this time,...

Re: Rosetta/Philae spacecraft success
Hey guys, This is an article downloaded from Discover mag, current issue. I am a subscriber and am permitted to share this article. I loved the comments about the so-called "pyramid," found on Ceres. I'm glad scientists have a sense of humor! Evelyn, ERSTRS, SmithES Ceres Gets Weirder With...

Re: Third Thursday Telecons
Good morning, Dr. Westphal, Dr. Zack, and Mike, I finally took time to listen to the May 24 Telecon. Thank you for Posting it live---an excellent idea! I laughed at your comment about my question: I am curious why the particles captured in the foil appear to be different in composition compared to t...

Re: Third Thursday Telecons
Hello fellow dusters, I have another obligation on the 21st and will not be able to join the next telecon. Will one of you post a synopsis of the event so we don't miss the important issues discussed? It the subject comes up, I am curious why the particles captured in the foil appear to be different...

Re: Third Thursday Telecons
(Friday, April 17, 2015) Hey, Dan,and fellow Dusters, It was such a privilege to hear Dr. Zack Gainsforth yesterday! The full-color slides he had prepared, helped me to (partly) understand the information given. My hubby Ted was listening, too, so he helped interpret most of it for me after the Tele...

Re: Third Thursday Telecons
DanZ, We will miss Dr. Westphal tomorrow. I am excited that Zack Gainsforth will host the Telecon since we discussed the difficulty of extracting tracks from the gel without destroying or damaging them, on our last Telecon. I googled Dr. Gainsforth and found that he, along with Dr. Westphal and othe...

Re: Interstellar dust - Discovery mag
Hi, guys, In the April 2015 issue of Discover Magazine, I was delighted to read of NASA mission Stardust! On page 74, titled, "20 Things You Didn't Know About...DUST," there is a paragraph, "A NASA mission called Stardust launched in 1999 to capture some of this dust. To collect speed...

Re: Third Thursday Telecons
Session #1, on 2-19-15----Great Session! I made notes about plans for future dusters. Excited about the 7 candidates we have already, and plans for next step---the hunt for larger particles, measuring Oxygen isotopes! I had wondered if our job as Dusters was nearly over, but it sounds like the proje...

Hey, Guys, Is this PM vm=4665501V1, marked right? I cannot see any track at that spot at all, but just above at 100, is a very small dot that might be the track, instead ? THANKS, ERSTRS, Evelyn, SmithES,

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
Hi, Cap, I have searched all over your focus movie and cannot find a track---much less a 15 pointer! I've also had the message, "no missed movies." But, I found that by waiting an hour or so, it will appear. I really like the look of the new Phase VII. A few bugs, but I've adjusted to them...
