Re: Events Lists

Thanks to those of you who responded to my query. I guess this is good news and bad news...good news because I'm not going blind as I feared, bad news because the pickings are very slim indeed this time around. Mitch, how did you manage to have your movies rated? Are they repeats from Phases 1 and 2...

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"

23/223. That little circle is a dead giveaway. Would never see it otherwise.

Events Lists

Because my own Events List is so anemic, I am wondering how populous the Events Lists of the top scorers are. I have 18 tagged movies out of 12,886 real movies viewed, at a pathetic percentage rate of .0014, just over 1 tenth of a percent. And the scary part is that probably only 5 of those movies r...

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"

What a funny calibration movie. Nothing moves but the track. I almost clicked "bad focus" until I spied it in the lower left hand corner. http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ss_virtual_microscope.php?frame=-1&next_movie=1118474V1&ondeck_movie=2327659V1&no_record=0&key=5e...

Re: Answers to Qs about: VM, Movies, Scores… UPDATED 6:56pm

Hi Zoerel and Evelyn, The reason it takes so long for your sensitivity to go up again is because you are adding more movies to the base score on which the percentage is calculated. As you can see in the following graph, it takes 100 correct cm's to get back to 99%. This is because the percentage is ...

Re: Where is Track in this CM?

David, the track is just about halfway down the movie on the left-hand side, and about 1/2" in. Look for the white circle (a bit more to the right), which shows up best about 3/4 the way down the scroll bars, and the track is just 1/2" or so to the left and slightly higher. (The photo I po...

Re: Where is Track in this CM?

fjgiie,

It is about 1/4" between dots going in a southeasterly direction. The track after the second dot is about 1/3". (*...*.....) (Alpha first, then blob....) 1024x768. It is best viewed a few bars above the bottom.

Re: Where is Sirius?

fjgiie and jsmaje, Thank you both for clearing that up. I'm sure (at least I hope) I was not the only one confused by that. I was able to find that diagram on Update 6 and take a screen shot so everyone can see for themselves (nice graphics, though, John): (I believe TP 1 is Orion and TP2 is Sirius....

Where is Sirius?

I hope one of you more knowledgeable dusters can explain the following to me: From the most recent blog entry (my italics and underlines): At the 2010 Meteoritical Society Conference in New York, we reported on the further analysis of track 30 ( Orion and Sirius ), and reported the exciting discover...

Re: Post your stats

I was almost afraid to post my stats, since the last time I did I immediately afterward got two more errors! I've been working my way back ever since. It's a little easier for me, though, than for those of you with high scores...it's only about 50 cm's for a 1/100th of a point. You must need hundred...

Re: "I think I've found a track, what do you think?"

nitram,

When you post a movie, would you please include the link? Just copy and paste the top line above the movie (browser bar). I've done it for you here:

Thanks, Elaine

Re: "I think I've found a track, what do you think?"

Thanks, greuti. I wondered about that. I have come to the point where every time I see a track, I expect it to be either a cm or a needle mark. :(
