Media coverage of Stardust & Stardust@home

Hi gang! I wanted to post a couple of places outside the Stardust, Interplanetary Scoiety, Berkeley & NASA spots where I have found info on the mission. If anyone else finds anything, could you also post? I'd like to see what is being said. First the Science channel (cable & American only?) ...

Hi! As soon as I preregistered, I sent out an e-mail to the poeple who I thought would want to do it. Unfortunately, those who are interested, don't have the time, the ones that aren't interested, seem to have the time. I would love to have another family member to be involved. I think my kids will ...

I have also been reading the posting here and I like the fact that a lot of us are thinking the same thing - science first. And while some of us would still be involved with or without a prize or recognition, many more will participate with a motivation. While I am interested in the science and sign...

I agree with you that this is not a race. However, I also think that a certain degree of competition would increase interest and efficiency in finding trails and accelerating the completion of the project, as long as we can also eliminate those who would make it inefficient by being counterproducti...

well,I am not much concerned about how much the volunteers are satisfied or disappointed,it's a matter of science ,not that of fulfilling wills. I agree with you. My point was, if we are looking, we do want to know how we are doing. Being interested in doing this for the science, I'm sure you would...

Great job of troubleshooting possible glitches to Startdust and posted volunteers! Boy, I never thought of repeatedly reporting positive results just to get naming rights. While it would be neat to find one and get to name it, I thought of this as just the mission to find one. My only suggestion wou...

Will there be Stardust things to buy?

I was wondering if there will be shirts or hats that we could purchase? If not, could we be given clip art and rights to put it on clothes ourselves?

I have passes e-mailes with one of the Berkley folks about the e-mail. They were still working on setting up the e-mail stuff as of the first of the month. They did not have a specific name for the e-mail at that time. I was concerned that I would miss the mailing if it ended up in my bulk folder. B...

Naming the particle something significant for everyone is a great idea, however if someone decides to name it differently, even "Fluffy", that's entirely up to them and, in my opinion, no one should consider it inappropriate or silly. I agree that what they choose to name it is entirely u...

My thought as well. But I also thought that some people would be upset to find something and think that they are the first, only to find later that they are one of several. If we are blind to our part of the search, we should perhaps assume that we are not the first to find that piece of dust and wa...

Initial viewer or rechecker? Will we know?

When we look at the focus movies, will we know if we are looking at it first, or if we are rechecking a possible find? Also, will there be a forum to check on the status of viewed movies and/or possible finds, so that we could see the results of the movies we have checked?

My main choice for a name would be in honor of space exploration, Columbia7, for the seven who died in the columbia accident in 2003. What a great idea! I think the people at NASA would probably like that. Just imagine if they were giving a presentation on the stardust and had to say "And here...

What do your families think of your participation?

Hi! My husband is very supportive and will probably be talking about it to his coworkers. My kids kinda get the idea of it, but are more concerned with their things. I e-mailed to the rest of the family to see if others are interested in participating, but none are. They are just too busy or don't h...

What will you name it?

Hello to all! I wish luck to everyone and hope that we all have a great time! I thought about this some. I think it would be neat to have a name with meaning, social or symbolic, for everyone. I may start looking at Sci-Fi or mythological names. Hermes, the messenger of the Greek gods, might be a ne...
