You know Startrak, My daughter asked me what was on the other side of the universe and I told her the same thing that's in tomorrow. That sent her away saying, "I can't take it!" She's only 12 (Hee Hee!). I don't know how accurate it would be, but I have a book I jump into every now and th...

There are many, many personal reasons for non-participation in the project. I doubt that there could be a single cause. The Zoo has been out for quite some time. Perhps some switched over, which would be fine. The amount of effort required for each project is very different. GZ is easier and has muc...

Bernard, This might be the thread you were looking for. See if it answers your questions. The most important thing is that you will have to notice a change in your score immediately to catch which one is a calibration movie. Does that help? If not, let us know and we'll see if we can explain it more...

It is wonderful to see volunteer work be rewarded with the coverage! Hats off to the volunteers and to Galaxy Zoo for the hard work. It is a success to all of our projects where we, the non-scientists, make the discoveries! It just goes to show how all of us, giving a global effort, can contribute s...

The Cries from Space caught my ear. There isn't much audio to listen to, but when I closed my eyes and listened, it sounded like vibrant birds more than an "awful scream" as some have described it. I thought I'd share it with you all and see what you think.

For the record, my comments were that the movies were scanned automatically and that there aren't enough people to it manually. (Besides, if they did it manually, they'd be dusting). As I said before, of the few that are bad focus, many more are good. We were told from the beginning that there would...

A printer made T-shirts and posted it on ebay for a short while, but didn't get much response. They were very simple, not with some of the ideas here. You'd have to have your own done at this point.

Doc, It is very frustrating when the surfaces aren't where they should be. One thing to know is that the scanning was done automatically. This quote was under the About section: "To find the elusive particles we are using an automated scanning microscope to automatically collect images of the e...

Thanks to a fellow duster, (Thanks again, John!) I am now aware that that link is to the current picture of the day and I was referring to the picture for the specific date posted.
Thanks for your link Startrak, I think I'll need to process that one a little. OK, a lot. Ether is back, WOW!

Startrak,

I saw this and I thought of you. I'm not losing a few brain cells any more, I can now feel little explosions going off in my head!
