You are quite correct fflo. Thanks for spotting these misnamed high resolution movies. They are not supposed to be showing up in the VM.

They should disappear soon...

I'm so sorry. There was an extra step in disabling this one bad batch that I had neglected to do. They should be gone now. Thank you all for letting me know. Movies that only load a few frames is a different problem caused by a hiccough in processing. Click Bad Focus on these, and that will flag the...

Hi

8333767V1 is a real movie. Clicking Track or No Track on a real movie will not affect your score.

Thanks to the movie ids posted here I've found the broken movies all come from one bad tile so I've disabled the entire batch. These are real movies so the impact has been on your time, but not on your scores. Please do continue to post in this thread if there are more non-loading movies Thank you! ...

Picture Perfect II: Higher Resolution focus movies

Since a picture is worth another thousand words, here's my schematic of our progress processing higher resolution focus movies. -Anna http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/images/scan-diagram_HR.jpg The new "High Resolution" are tiles we have reprocessed from our original scan data from H...

Aqualung

You have to click exactly (within 30 pixels) on the track to be scored correctly. On this particular occasion you were 45 pixels out, which is why this calibration was counted as incorrect.

I hope this helps you improve your sensitivity score in the future.

greuti, stardust1 FYI - Movie 7933874V1 is the next right, and has the end of the track visible in movie 8153179V1 . We highlighted this large angled track in the Updates section - it's a great example of other types of impact tracks in the aerogel besides the interstellar tracks we're all searching...

Quality Check Update - more movies in focus

For those following our project since May, you will know that the single most important factor in determining how long the Stardust@home search will take is scanning the aerogel in Houston. See our progress in Picture Perfect We've had to learn to combat the roughness of the aerogel surface to get m...

TLA

We've got a new three-letter-acronym (we scientists love 'em!)
WCO = Worth Checking Out

BWCO means but worth checking out. I think we'll change the My Events comment to "but WCO" so it's clear... as mud 8)

Hi Mighty Pete The way the VM is currently configured you can't move to an adjacent field of view in the VM or My Events viewer. The movies are served up by id number, which is just the order they were entered into our database. It is a nice suggestion though. Each movie id is also tagged in the dat...
