I've been glued to my computer watching NASA tv since the launch. The press kits and other info are also great for us engineer geek types. If only they could come up with somthing like Shuttle@home to get the public more involved. I;m afraid that as soon as it appears to be a routine job once again ...

Thanks for the great links, lots of good info.

Don't think I implied that the "ozone alone" protects us, but one could assume that rocks or dust with frozen microbial life forms would burn upon entry into the atmosphere.

Ice age bacteria brought back to life

http://www.newscientistspace.com/channel/astronomy/astrobiology/dn7064 Reading this article made me wonder what precautions are being taken to insure there is nothing trapped in the aerogel that we might not want here on Earth. Could we be giving a deadly bacteria a free ride past the protective ozo...

You speak for yourself and then you speak for the interests of all members. Which is it? Last response to you, it's both. Lets be clear DustTrailFinder Nothing you have posted speaks for me. Just for laughs I looked at all of your posts so far, I think it's pretty ludicrous that you of all people w...

Science, Engineering & Other Relevant Issues

I’m finding it hard to locate threads that aren’t cluttered up with a bunch of dribble that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with this project. Although it may be anecdotally interesting where every one is from or what you plan on naming a particle if you find one that’s not why I wanted to do th...

I am planning to find at least three stardust particles and naming each of them after my grandchildren. Pretty ambitious I guess, but without goals why even try to find them. Oh yes, I will definitely have fun doing this, but I'm serious about finding one for each grandchild and really think I can ...

Good point! I hate to think we are re-inventing the wheel everytime we look at one of the focus movies. I'm sure the people that think they are going to find all the dust tracks aren't going to like it though.

I do failure analysis on medical equipment & spend a fair amount of time looking at PCB's with a microscope. Mostly though I'm an armchair scientist.

Hi Nikita I am concerned about the fact that fewer than 200 people seem to show an interest during the first several days available to sign up to the message board out of the 100,000 who pre-signed to participate in the program. Even fewer have shown enough interest to actually post comments. I hav...

Life past or present?

What if an advanced civilization sent probes to earth when dinosaurs were here. Humans have a very short time compared to the dinosaurs so maybe they (advanced civilization) passed the earth up since there wasn’t intelligent life here. I also think the distances are to large, thousands of advanced c...
