If you focus down fast you can see the "in focus" point of the track move from left to right so the point to click is the furthest right(even if out of focus) on JBogle's last example.
My two cents worth.

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
Hi McAngus, Here is the explanation I received about the particular focus movie. It has caused me considerable frustration. Nice to know that it is still around! Postby laserphil » Thu Nov 17, 2011 9:28 pm Just had a look back at the last time I posted about this track and it is one that has come th...

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
I thought I would give dusting one more try in the hope that the bugs from the earlier phases would be resolved. I could not have been more wrong. 6243664V1 still gave me a miss when I clicked on the lowest, in focus point . The red bars indicate that the correct point is the out of focus point at 1...

Re: Skill Score
Nobody is 107 on power score and has a power score of 307 so actually is present!

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
Just had a look back at the last time I posted about this track and it is one that has come through from the back of the collector. This was Dan's answer on it from page 18 of this post Okay, don't be paranoid. This is a "track," but it came up through the aerogel from the OTHER SIDE! (jus...

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
Hi Caprarom I take it then that you do not see this as an HAT with the deepest particles aligned away from the supposed correct co-ordinates towards the top edge of the FOV. What do you see as the track? If you consider the structure at the co-ordinates as the track then what are the particles in th...

Re: Skill Score
Hi John, As a matter of interest I thought I would conduct a statistical look at the PM's as received in the last few weeks just to see if what I thought was correct. I believe that there are about 5000 different PM's so my sample is reasonably small but still significant and assuming that I am rece...

Re: "There's a problem with this focus movie"
I feel that I am now alone dusting or at least posting anything on the forum. I have listed this before at least a couple of times but still get caught - We have all been instructed to mark the deepest point of the track even if it is out of focus yet still this PM has incorrect co-ordinates marking...

Re: Skill Score
Thanks for your explanations John. Yes you have the formula correct. I did not include the statements that a duster would have to have at least, found one track and missed one before my formula would give sensible values otherwise zero and infinity would be the results. Just as an aside I completed ...

And yet another where the track is in focus above the surface debris and goes totally out of focus as the surface comes into focus:

Re: Skill Score
Thanks for the explanations John, I could see the effect on the simulations of the low scored PM's but was hoping that it would stand out a little more. I don't know for sure but my gut feeling is that there are considerably more low value PM's than high value in use so your simulations may be skewe...

Re: Skill Score
Hi John, I like the way that you can develop your computer simulations and the graphical representations of the top 100. Can you do a simulation of the Skill Score presentations to show how they remove the backwards movement of the skill score when a track of lower value is correctly identified - I ...

And another with the track totally out of focus before the surface is in focus - I hate missing a 7 pointer because the track is above the gel surface!

Re: Skill Score
With all the complaints about the Skill Score I would have expected that more than 11 dusters would have voted by now. I was one of those who complained, I submitted a proposal, I have cast my vote. It looks like those who demanded change have already departed and it has been left to the ones who pu...
