Tilted movies and possible tracks

I came across a movie of an apparently tilted or somehow half-focused area of aerogel. In fact, the right and quite larger part of the area was in focus at a certain range and the other and quite smaller part was in focus at a different range. On this other part, there was something resembling a tra...

Just a couple of relative questions and a suggestion: 1. Screening for something, you want to be sure you'd catch everything you're looking for (so you want high sensitivity) while you accept a risk to make some arong picks (false positives that will lower your specificity). Do calibration movies fo...

Ice fishing anyone? :P And I don't know if seeing a black bear walking through your backyard means anything to be frighten of to anyo...

Re: X marks the spot

The question is: Will we mark where the trail begins at the surface, where it ends on the last frame we see the trail, on each frame from the surface to the trails end, or any frame we choose where the trail is visible? I hope we receive very good instructions about this when we are finally up and ...

I found that after starting at the top and slowly working down the frame, it is also most helpful to then start at the bottom and find what is at focus there. Then moving toward the surface, each frame above the trail should have something in focus until relatively near the surface. Coming up from ...

Most often the response will be for “love of science” or alternatively that “religion and science are separate”…what disturbs me is that individuals (not for the first time) are attempting to combine religion and science. Yes, a higher power could have directed any form of evolution, and this is a ...

I'm curious...for those of you on this board who do not believe that evolution could have occurred without the assistance of a higher power, what is your rational for participating in this search? Considering that the discovery of interstellar dust grains will "yield important insights into th...

To start things out and make an example of what do I have in mind, I would like to make a few comments on View#1 of the tutorial. What a non-expert user makes out of this movie and the comments that come with it? First of all: one must spot the surface first of all . Make no mistake: there will be n...

An Educational and Training Proposal

Hello members. Waiting for the actual project to start I would like to share with you all an idea that just might lead us all to a more adequate level of expertise and understanding about looking for an actual track. Let's use this or another thread and discuss each of the available movies of the tu...

From the information available, I believe that any particles that might have entered at a rather oblique angle might be suspect as to origin, while the particles entering closer to perpendicular are more likely to be interstellar. Hmmmm.... Makes me wonder... That means that the cone-shaped traject...

Re: Greece

Eh, you know what they say here in California. You like the weather, wait ten minutes. (Actually it's the other way around.) And I beleive we are at the same latitude, and my former home in Los Angeles was classified as a "Mediterranean Climate." 8) Judging from what I've seen in movies o...

Verenique, hope this helps...the aerogel collector had two grids, yes, but the apparatus itself is shaped like a tennis racket, with one side collecting comet particles and side B collecting interstellar dust, and both sides have to be deployed at the same time. However, the samples of Comet Wild 2...

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I have the impression that comet and interstellar dust collection did not occur in the same medium nor in the same time. I recall - but could not find my source anymore  - that there were two aerogel apparatuses. One for collecting Interstellar and one for Comet dus...

I would hope that almost all of those who pre-signed up for the project will actually participate, but what I am voicing is a concern that many have lost interest and will not participate. Although I believe that when the project will start, it will draw back people's interest, we do share a simila...

Greece

Hello from Greece!

It will be so wonderfull that gazes from all over the world will focus on the same quest!

Despite here god Sun is already distracting our minds and calls to follow him at a seashore, I promise I'll be quite a blasphemer, trying to ignore him and focus on my VM! :P
