When can we expect feedback from the Pros?
Greetings: I got started in Phase I relatively late, and by that time most movies had been viewed over 100 times. Most of the ones I clicked back then had an Official Status of "Indeterminate", but several had been judged "Inclusions" or "Possible Interstellar Particles". When do you think you'll st...

I have had similar reactions to the "new", higher resolution movies--a larger proportion where I can't bring any surface feature into focus. In Phase I I tagged these as "Bad Focus", thinking that was a conservative answer. Could one of the pro's advise us? Would it be better for The Project for us ...

Weldon: Welcome to Stardust! This is a real space science project. Before you get too disenchanted, try looking around a few of the other forums, where people are helping each other out and showing each other what they've found. Also, if you go to "My Events", you can see what proportion of people a...

Thank you. No I haven't done nearly enough browsing in the Forum, and hadn't seen the conversation. There seem to be a lot of thoughtful people amongst us 19,670. I once spent about 6 months recruiting 30 participants for a psychology experiment, and the thought of 19,000+ people volunteering to wor...

Perceptual Psychology Data Base
Greetings all. Once upon a time and far away I was a psychology graduate student, and it strikes me that Stardust@Home has a huge data base that might be usefully mined for information about perceptual processes. 19,000+ participants, thousands of judgements about individual movies, and tracking of ...

Greetings: I had the same troubles gilmano had when starting--took me about 30 errors before I figured out to go back and re-look. Does anyone know how many professionals there are on The Team? I suspect us 18,000+ "dusters" outnumber them by a good margin. I've looked at about 2000 films now, and h...

Greetings: Concerning obsidian knives for aerogel dissection. Modern flintknappers claim that with skill and luck you can get an obsidian blade with an edge one silicon dioxide molecule wide. There are a couple of knappers (ex.-Errette Callahan in Virginia) who make obsidian blades for delicate oper...
