Phase 3 postings

I was in the top 100 (76) +- in phase 3 and viewed thousands of movies. My final score does not reflect my real score. Someone posted the wrong scores when the results were tallied. I would like to have credit for all of the time I spent working on this project and the chance to name any particle I ...

Re: Variable speed auto-scan?

Dan,Thanks for following up on the tiles. I saw many new (old) movies from phase 1& 2 with this session. The other four tiles were repeating so frequently that I knew something must be wrong. I am sure many old tiles could use another look with the criterion established in phase 3. I will get a ...

early phase 3 movies missing

When I began phase 3 "dusting" there were many movies that I marked as a candidate that still have only been viewed by 10-30 people. This is odd because the recent dustings have been viewed over 400 times! What has happened to those movies and why are we repeating the same small group? I h...

Re: Anyone still here? I'm discouraged...

Greetings: CODE TALKER! Don't get down on your score...it will improve with time! I had so many errors when I first started but it gets better as you begin to recognize the calibration movies. When you have only viewed a few movies and miss one, it really effects your score. As your score increases ...

Sub-Micro Impacts

I realize how small the typical impacts we see in the calibration movies are, however, is it possible there are impacts that are much smaller? The sieves that I use in my lab go down to 75 microns, (huge by electron micro. standards). Any particle that passes a 75 micron sieve is difficult to see wi...

Variable speed auto-scan?

I like the concept of the auto-scan but rarely use it. I would use the feature more if I could control the speed of the device. I don't know how difficult it is to add such a feature; (variable speed), but it would really help me if I could match the focus speed with my eyes and brain on any given d...

degrading sensitivity of buttons on vm

I have noticed degradation of button sensitivity on the vm :( . I click on the no track or bad focus button and it highlights it, but does not load the next movie until I click on it a second time. It freezes, and when I click it again it reloads. This causes an occasional error on the succeeding fr...

Where have all the "DUSTERS" gone?

I know this can get boring but is the job done? I have taken a long break myself but I keep coming back. What is the status of the project, % complete etc. Perhaps a quarterly email update on the status of the project would revive some of us "slacker dusters" and renew interest? Dust On!

New reviews tripled "passed 1st cut" score...not i

I am glad that I continued to mark some events that I thought were likely inclusions. Many of them have been upgraded to "passed 1st cut" status. After the latest review my "passed 1st cut" score has tripled. We should probably continue to mark anything below the surface and let ...

Read this before searching...

All of us had difficulty in the beginning of our search and our scores suffered from our inexperience. It should be recommended reading for all new explorers to read the "VM PILOTS HANDBOOK". Enhance it to include excerps from "How can I get better" posted on the "Community&...

evolving

Yes Howie, I too have noticed a change in the movies. THANK GOODNESS! The deja vu syndrome was starting to get to me. It is pretty bad when you can mark them from memory before they are even focused. I have only viewed >9k movies so I can only imagine how you must be after >16k. We were told by Star...

WAY TOO SLOW

:? I have viewed almost 10,000 movies. The site seems to be loading movies slower and performing slower in all venues. Firefox is bumping me offline more frequently...Is something different? Is Stardust@home too much of a success for the resources available?

Dusting is like Fishing!

 They call it fishing...not catching! It is the same thrill when you see the unmistakable trail of a track as when you get a bite on your fishing rod. Use care to not click too soon and miss the bite! How many "dusters" Are also fishermen? It takes patience for both! Happy Dusting......
