PR ...?
How about getting some news coverage to renew interest in the project? I just started phase 2, and I'm discouraged when I see that the hits I've marked have only been viewed by 3-10 people. I thought this method of finding tracks relied on large numbers of people viewing the vids - the more who view...

another take
Even if you did defy instructions and click "No Track" on vids with bad focus, it wouldn't matter, because the majority of people are being honest. So when they look at the ratings for a vid and 112 out of 130 people rated it as Bad Focus, petty ratings of No Track will not matter. Also, d...

confidence meter
I have posted a similar suggestion on another board, but maybe it would be more appropriate to post to this board: I wish there were a meter where the raters can weight the tracks they mark. It does not have to be complicated; it could be a 3 or 5 point choice: "what's that" "maybe&qu...

Re: P.S.
I wouldn't worry about it too much; just have to be patient... the aerogel isn't going anywhere (I hope!). Here's a similar one that is actually the second event in my list: 9982449V1 . It's currently at 41 agreements in 132 views. JCBC JCBC, I think I would definitely rate yours a "holy cow!&...

P.S.
I wish there were a "confidence meter" that went with the rating as "track or not". Many of the "tracks" I mark ... I realize are probably inclusions... as itty bitty specks that don't really resemble the calibration movies -- but we've been told to basically mark anyth...

woohoo - low velocity impact?!
Please check this out: http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?id=305392V1 Only 30 out of 115 have flagged what's coming in from the left side. Not only is it a line going diagonally into the gel, it appears to end in a bulbous thing that looks just like a calibration movie. Oh, i...

Gesundheit!
I'm no microbiologist, but this is how I imagine a bacterial culture:

Did someone sneeze on the gel???
-Joot
P.S. I rated it "Bad Focus" since the surface seems to be right at the bottom.

Re: A nice example of a track...
That is cool. I bet that is a track. This one looks like another one coming in at an angle. Not as big, but you can see a speck of something at the bottom of the track. 31 of 95 people noticed this one so far. If this isn't one, I'll be surprised. http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_vie...

Re: marked a calibration movie
stardust1, I totally agree with several of your points. That "needle" coming into focus at the bottom of the movie you posted (#3 in the list you made) is definitely interesting and I would mark it, too. I have marked a handful of such "tiny" interesting objects. As I understand ...
