It looks like a surface feature to me... There's a dip in the surface but I'd still say it's on the surface.

Another one bites the dust...

OK, this one is not so obvious but it's the biggest one I've ever seen. The funny part is that I'm the 64th person to see this movie and I'm the first one to flag it... So either I'm crazy (likely ;-)) or you should not be too desperate about being the first to find a track. Let's look at it: http:/...

dd Those 25 agreements are for 65 viewings. The 10 agreements for the bad focus movie I discussed are for 27 viewings. As percentages they are very close to the same. Keep in mind the bad focus one should have been obvious. And it wasn't. For almost 40% of viewers. I missed that... Anyway it's clea...

Belinda posted another nice track on the "I found a cute, funny, interesting, etc. movie" thread: http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?movie_id=45740 Its much closer to the surface and I think we even see the start of the track. It's a beautiful example because unlike...

25 agreements?! This is more than the 7 agreements on a false positive mentioned in another thread so at least there is some SNR for the scientists to work with. Somehow even if we're not individually wise we do have some collective wisdom. Maybe... :)

Very nice catch and surprisingly similar to mine. Cool! :o Let's do some homework again: the slope is about 6 steps per 50um and the surface is 18 steps away. The track is thus about 150um long. This is consistant with 'my' first track. The particle size and trajectory angle are similar too (I don't...

Seriously, tho, good luck. I concede that tagging this for further review is better than not (which is what I think "icebike" was trying to allude to). Yeps, seeing the posts on this forum many things have been tagged for less than that. Anyway it's better to tag a too much than the contr...

This is per the Forum Admin, last night.
So what ever 10409 is, it is NOT a calibration movie.
I stand corrected: I did not know about this feature. ;-)

Then I came to 10625B. There is a small track very clearly visible near the middle of the picture. I have a laptop with a track pad, so I used it to place the cursor so that it was clearly pointing at the track. This is not a track, IMHO. Note that the surface of the aerogel is not reached: the foc...

Damien - Looks like you've done some homework! Good job! :D Whether I think this is or is not space dust is not important...your enthusiasm is!! I only wish you were able to get the credit for finding it, regardless of the outcome. I saw a similar movie early on and did not identify it, but I might...

Hi all, I've looked at the movie again. The more I look at it the more I'm convinced it's a little Spiff from outer space ;-) Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing here's the "particle": http://damien.douxchamps.net/media/png/19505_in_focus.png The track is also visible. If yo...

OK, I understand better now ;-) Thanks for the nice explanation; I was not aware that there may be contaminants inside the aerogel.

Nice lateral track with stardust visible

In the upper left corner: http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?movie_id=19505 Too bad I had a stupid "you must have pushed the back button"-message: the particle is not on my official list ;-( But anyway there seems to be a lot of those... Edit: I didn't think about t...
