This morning Dave Frank and I extracted the first keystone from the Stardust Interstellar Tray. We extracted it from tile 17. It is truly awe inspiring to work on the flight article. It’s not every day that one has the opportunity — and awesome responsibility — to work on something in the laboratory that has been beyond the orbit of Mars!
Here it is: I1017,1. We extracted it at the same azimuth angle and zenith angle as the first track that we’re going to extract, near this blank in tile 17. We’re doing the undercuts as I write!
