Progress Report

We are aiming to complete scanning and processing of 12 aerogel tiles before we launch. I'm keeping track by color-coding a diagram and I've shared out the view in 'Picture Perfect'

We are also making a number of modifications to the Virtual Microscope to get it from 'alpha' to a 'beta' version, based on the recommendations from our alpha testers and Red Team reviewers.

We anticipate that we'll stay in 'beta' for the duration of the search. Part of our philosophy in this project is we'll fix as we go along, building from experience and feedback from our volunteers.

So when's the big day? We still can't say. Some tiles scan beautifully, others have such a rough surface it can take 2 or 3 attempts to get the movies in focus. The scanning is definitely our limiting factor.

Please stick with us. We appreciate the interest we're getting, and I promise we're doing the best we can!
