The movie is in bad focus, is tilted. But despite that, it really looks like a track. Congrats on the find :)

@HelenWheels: I have about four or five such movies in my events list. It's interesting that the countless amount of track candidates which look exactly like this one (including one on my events list that's passed cut 1) don't really have "tracks" per se or visible "entrance points&qu...

That's hillarious. I'm sure he's getting odd looks from kids quite frequently for the eyepatch, but the pirate comment just cracked me up.

Let me be the first to go: - Astronomy Picture of the Day : You all probably know this already. I've been following the APOD since sometime around 2001 or 2002. - Emergency and Disaster Information Service : Very interesting site, which I became aware of through a forwarded email (one that was forwa...

What science-related blogs/sites/sources do you follow?

The question is simple: No matter what the field of science it is, state the blogs, sites, daily features, news sources, RSS feeds, usenet newsgroups, etc. do you follow frequently? The fields in question include but are not limited to: - astronomy, general physics, biology, geology, anthropology, s...

It doesn't surprise me to see people in this community who are aware of the APOD and have been following it for quite some time (even before Stardust@Home got featured)

Couldn't agree more with stardust1. I actually agree with you too, on the "public participation to scientific research" issue. I was thinking about the exact same thing the other day, when I was watching a documentary on global warming and how something similar to SETI@home or the Human Ge...

http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?id=4077200V1 South-southeast of center, just comes into focus as you get to the lowest images. I didn't click on it because, well I have my doubts. I think I've seen this movie before, too. It's very interesting, but highly unlikely to have...

http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?id=9533718V1 (right hand below the middle) That's a very interesting find. I have absolutely no idea what it is. It doesn't look like the tracks from the callibration movies, but it might be something valuable. It's just hard to distinguish...

Re: Impact Crater?

http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?id=5500682V1 Left hand side, just below middle. It is very hard to NOT think of an impact crater, especially when you slowly focus down from the very top. You can clearly see the downward slope from the rim of what appears to be a crater. I...

I have doubts about this one since I think it needs a bit more lower focus. But it's certainly intriguing. ;) Only 2 views so far. Opinions? http://stardustathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/myevents_viewer.php?id=2829309V1 First I thought you were referring to that big fold that's passing right from the midd...

Re: How about these Three???

To spincrus: If I'm looking at the same thing as you, 2 little dots so close they're almost touching? To me they seem to be in focus on the surface and start to go out of focus in the first frame below the surface. That's the one I'm talking about. I'm not sure if they're two touching dust particle...

Well Howie, technically speaking, it might be the routers your internet connection goes through. The best thing you can do is reconnect/reset-modem and try again. That's what I do. I'm sometimes having trouble reaching the site, too. It's probably because of the high bandwidth usage. With me, what h...
